Assessment for Balance and Integrity

Myofascial Release is a highly effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. MFR releases the restrictions that come from trauma, injuries, surgery, repetitive movement patterns and posturing. If you want to get you back to doing what you love, Myofascial Release Therapy can get you the results you’re looking for.
Your fascia is a continuous web that is connecting you from head to toe. Each of your cells are wrapped in fascia, this saran wrap like matrix helps to insulate and protect each cell. It is the way all things in the body are connected. The wrapping can change in structure depending upon how well hydrated it is, and how much stress, load, and positive tension it has to bear.
Your structure is held up by fascia, and the health of your fascia affects each system of your body. Because again each individual part of you is connected by fascia, it is a connection.
Sol is the liquified liberated state of connective tissue. Each part of you is a different density of fascia. Connective tissue makes up your entire structure: it ranges from the consistency and viscosity of your blood, to the dense hardened state of your bone.
Because our tissues are like a fabric and each thread is woven together with bundles of nerves, veins, arteries, all the other systems of the body held within the fabric, we want our tissues to create healthy boundaries and hold their shape and function properly, and we also want smooth connections crossing at joints, for symmetry, for proper joint function. We need our fabric to be loose and free of restriction. Yet not too loose and free to lose the positive tension that creates the structure to stay intact and maintain integrity. And so in the fabric of our bodies we want fluidity, tone and muscle definition.
After injury, trauma especially after surgery and in the reparation process the fabric can become snagged, ripped, glued down, adhesions can form, loss of function, knots, bumps, it can be hot, hard, swollen. These are all signs of fascial restrictions.
The tension and stress in fascia can have a pressure load of up to 2000 pounds of pressure per square inch. This can act as a straight jacket to snag in the sweater that pulls the whole sweater out of alignment which causes issues in other areas. On a cellular level this leads to dysfunction of any and all cells in that area, so it can damage whatever tissue that restriction affects or is wrapping (ie the stomach cells can become damaged if the restriction is in the area of the stomach). The amazing thing about fabric is that the density can change.
Like fabric, fascia can be mended; tissue can regenerate itself. All your tissue can repair, and your body can heal. I am absolutely in love with this process. Myofascial Release is the most effective form of healing I have witnessed in my 25 years practicing the healing arts.
You want symmetry and balance in your body. From the ground up you want your weight evenly distributed between the front and the back and the medial and lateral side (inside and outside) of each foot as well as the left and right foot to have equal weight for good balance in the feet. And psoas it should be from the ground up. We want tensegrity: equal positive tension, especially when crossing a joint. And remember the spine is all joints.
In a body read I assess how you hold your body upright in space. I look at the front, side and back of your body to understand how you relate to gravity, how your body stacks and builds itself from the ground up. Your posture and how you hold your body up has everything to do with the health of your fascia. I have been trained to see your unique body, to read and effectively treat based upon your postural analysis.
I find the points at which have the greatest underlying tension, weakness, where things may be shut down, compact, dense, twisted, turned and broken. Usually tissue has built up on one side, the tension and on the other side there is not enough tissue, and the tissue has been overstretched.
In the body read, I can see the sources of imbalance that can be holding the dysfunctional patterns and pulling the bones out of alignment over and over again. I work on creating balance and symmetry in the body by releasing the “straight jacket,” the underpinnings, the deeper layers of fascia.
The eyes survey the landscape of the body, observing where the boney landmarks are as I measure widths, lengths, heights and depths of hip bones, vertebrae, the joints of the knees, muscles, and muscle groups, the height of the shoulders and the curve of the spine. I compare differences from front back and side to side, sides of the extremity and left and right side of body. With attuned observational skills to notice and log every detail along the way.
It’s important to know what is out of alignment, where it starts and where it ends. What is pulling and restricted so we can treat these areas with MFR. Your pain symptoms are caused by fascial restrictions.
Tensegrity (equal positive tension) helps to keep up the form and function of the structure. We want tension! We just want a healthy tone and definition and positive tension! We want differentiation between muscles, and groups so every part of us is doing its appropriate job. So our body is functioning at its prime, so we can be out skiing, golfing, playing pickleball, lifting, running if we want to. We also want to be able to sit, stand, walk with ease and grace. MFR can help you get out of pain and get back to doing what you enjoy.
I am a Myofascial Release Therapist and I treat people with chronic pain patterns. I am here to get you the results that you are looking for.
I have a client who is taller now than she was last week, she is walking better and able to plant her feet on the ground. I have another client who reported a 9 out of 10 on her pain level when they first came in and after their first series of 6 sessions the pain is down to a level 3.
Myofascial Release is a safe and effective therapy. You deserve to feel better now, book your session today.
